Characters from times past will be performing mini plays at four historic sites during the day. It's a departure from the guided tours offered in prior years that we hope you'll enjoy. Bascom Lamar Lunsford founded the Mountain Dance and Folk Festival as a means for people to share and understand the beauty and dignity of the Southern Appalachian music and dance traditions that have been handed down through generations in western North Carolina.

Since 1973, the Montford Park Players (MPP) have been presenting free productions of Shakespeare in Asheville, NC.
